UMN Intl: Dove World Outreach Center – Burn a Bible Day

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful,

The biggest threat is Islamophobia [Hatred, Discrimination and Racism against Muslims and Islam]

No Muslim would ever consider to burn copies of the Bible, in fact a Muslim finds it disgusting for how Christians do not have any respect for it.

Holy Scriptures are seen as something Holy, it should be treated with care, it should be placed on a high place, it should only be touched by the pure.

The Holy Quran is always placed high above in the homes of Muslims, it is treated with love and respect, it is a symbol of faith, a book people turn to for guidance when afflicted, it’s a reminder for one to do good.

From the Holy Quran - Surah 3. Al-Imran

102. O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him);

103. And hold fast, all of you together, to the cable of Allah, and do not separate. And remember Allah’s favour unto you: how ye were enemies and He made friendship between your hearts so that ye became as brothers by His grace; and (how) ye were upon the brink of an abyss of fire, and He did save you from it. Thus Allah maketh clear His revelations unto you, that haply ye may be guided,

104. And there may spring from you a nation who invite to goodness, and enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency. Such are they who are successful.

UMN Intl: Global Islamic Government [The Empire]

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful,

The Global Islamic Government [Empire] is run by the Shariah [Divine Laws] of Allah through a Khalifah [Head of State] or Representative of Allah’s Law.

The Khalifah is one who exercises the authority delegated to him by his principal, and does so in the capacity of his deputy and agent. This term has been used in the Quran with reference to man: ‘Just think when your Lord said to the angels: Lo! I am about to place a Khalifah [Nabi Adam Alaihi Salaam] on earth…’ (Quran Surah 2:30). At certain places in the Holy Qur’an, Khulafa (pl.) also means (a) people with power to mobilize all that is on earth (Quran Surah 27:62); (b) successors or inheritors who will inherit the earth and succeed one after another (Surah 24:55; Surah 38:26). In the political history of Islam, Khalifa became the title of the successors of the Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam, notably the first Rightly-Guided Caliphs known as al-Khulafa al-Rashidun (11-35 A.H., 632-655 C.E.).

The Islamic Government Functions are seen to by the Ulama [Islamic Scholars]:

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful,

Welcome to the Great Kingdom of Islam.

Introduction to the UMN Intl Ulama Board

GLOBAL ISLAMIC EMPIRE

[Flag]——[Coat of Arms]

The UMN Intl Ulama Board is a board of International Ulama who stands as Advisers, Investigators, and Intelligence Agents of the UMN Intl Organization in relation to all Islamic Matters of the Shariah on a Global scale.

Ulama (Arabic علماء, singular: عالِم, ‘Alim, “scholar”)

We are upon the Salafiyeen and we strictly follow the school Mathab e Rasul [Teachings of Nabi Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam i.e. the School of Understanding] and the Usul al-fiqh (The Roots of Jurisprudence) in accordance to Shariah [i.e. Qur'an and Sunnah], our Minhaj (method) of Ijtihad (interpretation) of Shariah (divine law) is based on Zahir (intelligence), Istihsan (good judgment), and Ijma (consensus) by means of Qiyas (analogical reasoning) in comparison to the Urf (society custom) and Risalah (dissertation) of the Sahabah to avoid Bid‘ah (innovation), therefore the Istihlal (legalization) and Ijazah (authorization) of all Fatwa that is made by the UMN Ulama are of certainty; are clearly Halal (legal) and based on Haqq (truth) due to the fact that our Minhaj (method) of Ijtihad (interpretation) is made by means of Jihadul Nafs (a strict struggle against personal thought) thus, our scholars are Muslimeen (people who submit to the will of Allah Alone).

All our scholars (Muslim clergy) are ashab al-zahir, (people of the literal sense) and have several years of training in the fields of Islamic sciences, and rank in fields such as a mufti (deal with interpretations), qadi (judgements), faqih (jurisprudence), muhaddith (understanding of Shariah), Mujaddid (Quran Psychology: i.e. renewal of Imaan)

Our scholars are well versed in legal jurisprudence and most being lawyers, and doctors some also go on to specialize in other fields, such as philosophy, and dialectical theology etc… The fields studied, and the importance given to them, may vary from situation to situation as each case may differ.

Our governing/ political structure:

We are in accordance to the Islamic System as practiced by the first four Sahabah who were appointed Khulafah after the death of Nabi Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam and our functioning is that of the Bait ul Maal. [See: UMN Intl: Political Structure]

The Roles of the UMN Intl Ulama

Teaching

It is a Wajib/Fard (obligatory, duty) for our learned Ulama to teach young Muslim students about Islam and other fields of study at a Madrasah/ Uloom (school/seminary); a well-rounded education is something every Muslim must acquire in order to understand the Deen (religion) in its entirety. Our Ulama also hold seminars where they give lectures and speeches about the area of Islam in which they specialize.

Executive capacity

Our experienced Ulama are leaders in the political world, (Wilayat-i Faqih) “The Guardianship of the Jurists” is a need and a must of the Muslim Ummah.

Judicature

Amongst our Ulama there are also Qadi’s (judges) in our Sharia courts, apart from this one of their main jobs is the interpretation and maintenance of Shariah [Islamic law] around the world.

Advisory

Our clergy also fulfill the role of a counsel for the Amir of the UMN Intl; and there are also jobs for them in various governmental institutions [i.e. the Bait ul Maal].

Preaching

There are various jobs available for the Islamic clergy at local Masaajid, such as leading public prayers, preaching, and delivering sermons, especially on Jummu’ah [Friday prayers]. Another duty is missionary activities such as the Islamic Propagation Tabligh work and going out in Jamaat to non-muslim areas and give Dawah [invite to Islam].

Ummah

The Ulama further represent the ijma “scholarly and learned consensus” of the Ummah “community of Muslims” Many efforts to revive the Islamic Culture focus on the reintroduction of ijtihad which is based on Istihsan (good judgment) and Ijma (consensus) by means of Qiyas (analogical reasoning) in comparison to the Urf (society custom) and Risalah (dissertation) of the Sahabah so that the Ummah may be Psychologically and scholarly empowered with Haqq, it is the duty of every Muslim to know his/her Shari rights.

Issuing of Fatwa

A fatwa (Arabic: فتوى‎; plural fatawa Arabic: فتاوى‎), in the Deen faith of Islaam is a religious ruling/ opinion concerning Shariah (Islamic law) issued by the Ulama (Islamic scholars).

General Fatwa are pronounced by distinguished scholars of Haqq (Truth) to provide guidance to other Muslim scholars, judges and citizens on how subtle points of Islamic law should be understood, interpreted or applied. There are strict rules on who is eligible to issue a valid fatwa and who could not, as well as on the conditions the fatwa must satisfy to be valid.

According to the usul al-fiqh (principles of jurisprudence), the fatwa must meet the following conditions in order to be valid:

The fatwa is in line with relevant legal proofs, deduced from Qur’anic verses and supportive ahadith-e-haqq; provided the hadith was not later abrogated by Nabi Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam.

It is issued by a person (or a board) having due knowledge and sincerity of heart;

It is free from individual opportunism, and not depending on Baatil secularist political servitude;

It is adequate with the needs of the Ummah [Muslim World]

The UMN Intl Ulama-e-Haqq provides general binding Fatwa (فتوى‎) on social religious and political matters in the Muslim World, the UMN Intl “Acknowledged as the leading spiritual authority for the Muslim World”, also stand ” as supreme authority.” It becomes a Fard for the Qadi’s in Dar al Islam to make the General Fatwa part of the legal system.

Qualifications for an individual to issue fatwā

In order for a scholar to be qualified to issue a fatwa, it was required that he obtained an ijazat attadris wa’l-ifta (“license to teach and issue legal opinions”) from a Madrassah/ Uloom [Islamic legal education system], the ijazat attadris wa’l-ifta has evolved into the doctorate, or more specifically the Doctor of Laws qualification,

To obtain an ijazat attadris wa’l-ifta in the Madrassah system, a student “had to study the school of law, usually four years for the basic undergraduate course” and ten or more years for a post-graduate course. The “doctorate is obtained after an oral examination to determine the originality of the candidate’s thesis,” and to test the student’s “ability to defend them against all objections, in disputations set up for the purpose” which were scholarly exercises practiced throughout the student’s “career as a graduate student of law.” After students completed their post-graduate education, they were awarded doctorates giving them the status of mudarris (meaning “teacher”), faqih (meaning “master of law”), and mufti (meaning “professor of legal opinions”)

Madhhab [Mathab]

Our Ulama work within the tradition of the Sahaba and are upon the Salafiyeen (Madhhab e Rasul), their duty is to uphold (Wilayat-i Faqih) “The Guardianship of the Jurists” [Hadith/ Narrations] as collected by the A’immah Arba‘a [Imaams of Fiqh].

We strictly follow the school Mathab e Rasul [Teachings of Nabi Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam i.e. the School of Understanding] and the Usul al-fiqh (The Roots of Jurisprudence) in accordance to Shariah [i.e. Qur'an and Sunnah], our Minhaj (method) of Ijtihad (interpretation) of Shariah (divine law) is based on Istihsan (good judgment) and Ijma (consensus) by means of Qiyas (analogical reasoning) in comparison to the Urf (society custom) and Risalah (dissertation) of the Sahabah to avoid Bid‘ah (innovation), therefore the Istihlal (legalization) and Ijazah (authorization) of all Fatwa that is made by the UMN Ulama are of certainty; are clearly Halal (legal) and based on Haqq (truth).

All our scholars (Muslim clergy) have several years of training in the fields of Islamic sciences, and rank in fields such as a mufti (deal with interpretations), qadi (judgements), faqih (jurisprudence), muhaddith (understanding of Shariah), Mujaddid (Quran Psychology: i.e. renewal of Imaan)

Our scholars are well versed in legal jurisprudence and most being lawyers, and doctors some also go on to specialize in other fields, such as philosophy, and dialectical theology etc… The fields studied, and the importance given to them, may vary from situation to situation as each case may differ.

(Wilayat-i Faqih): “The Guardianship of the Jurists” [ولاية الفقيه ]

Our understanding and duty on the issue of (Wilayat-i Faqih): “The Guardianship of the Jurists” [Hadith/ Narrations] of the Sunnah as collected by the prominent A’immah Arba‘a [Imaams of Fiqh]. in the form of Risalah (dissertation). (Wilayat-i Faqih): “The Guardianship of the Jurists” is the preservation of pure Shariah [Surah 5.44-47 confirms this duty] and whoever breaks this chain becomes an Idolater; Allah has given us Al Islam the Deen of the Anbiya; [Surah 14:35-36] is a reminder of our duty [Surah 13:8-29] among others tells you the truth.

Duty and reason of preserving the Hadith/ Narrations [i.e. The Sunnah]

To preserve what is known of the Sunnah as collected [Hadith/ Narrations], it is a fact that after the death of the prominent A’immah Arba‘a [Imaams of Fiqh].many schools of “thought” were developed and named after them but they the A’immah Arba‘a [Imaams of Fiqh]. Are from the school of “understanding” [i.e. Mathab e Rasul]; it is an inevitable fact that the schools of “thought” will eventually die off like the Zahiri and Jariri schools, this will happen due to them not having enough knowledge of the Sunnah, as some of these schools grow the others decline, one by one they will die off and as one dies off it becomes a loss of recorded Sunnah. It is a Fard for the scholar who follows a particular school of “thought” to continue his/her studies of the other schools as well to preserve all the Sunnah thus making him/her a follower of the Mathab e Rasul [The Teachings of Nabi Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam i.e. the School of Understanding]

Dividing false Hadith e Bid’ah from Hadith e Haqq [Authenticating Hadith]

Allah’s command is clear in al Quran, whoever does not judge by that which He has revealed such are Kafirun (non-Muslim), wrong doers, and evil living people. Almighty Allah throughout the Holy Quran states the revelation is made clear, easy to understand and is a plain text for believers, thus Hadith should be judged in the light of al Quran, whatever is in conflict with the Holy Quran is in fact a Bid’ah and is Haraam to use in any Fatwa. Proof of the superiority from a few Hadith of Haqq- By Abdullah bin Mas’ud: Hadith: Shahi Bukhari Volume 1, Book 3, Number 73; By Anas: Hadith: Shahi Bukhari Volume 2, Book 23, Number 422; By Tariq: Volume 8, book 73, Number 120; By Ibn Abbas: Volume 1 book 3, Number 75

& Volume 5, Book 57, Number 57 etc…

We reject the idea of [personal ijtihad/ the right to personal opinion], as the means to the understanding of the Qur’an can not change with time, the facts are: what has happened in the past is found in our present and will exist in our future as well, up until Judgement Day [the prophet said the Jihad (struggle) will continue till Judgement Day [Surah 29:1-13; Surah 9:123-127 among others confirms this]. Also you can not make a Fatwa without observing Jihadul Nafs so that you may be certain of your ruling.

“Whoever wants to follow a path let him follow the path of those who have died because the living ones could fail in their trials. Those are the companions of Mohammed (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’Salaam)” ~ ‘AbduLlah ibn Mas’ud (RA) addressing the Tabi’in

The Almighty Allah Ta’ala says in the Holy Quran Surah Attawbah (The Repentance), Ayah 100:

This Ayah means: that “the first group of Muslims who have performed Hijrah from Makka to Medina at the time of our Nabi Prophet Muhammad, Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Salaam, who are from “Muhajereen” (People who migrated from Mecca to Medina) and those who are from “Ansar” (Muslims in Medina who have received those Muhajereen coming to them from Mecca), those people and everyone who has gone their way and has followed their path, are all blessed by Allah Ta’ala and are under the Reda (love and blessing) of Allah. Allah has prepared for them great Heaven under which rivers are flowing, and they are in Heaven for ever. And this is the great and true winning”.

The first four Khulafah appointed after the death of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam are from the Muhajereen who immigrated from Makka to Medina, they are successful and they are in Jannah; the prominent A’immah Arba‘a [Imaams of Fiqh] followed their Madh’hab [i.e. Mathab e Rasul]

Oh scholars of the Deen, we follow one Deen, one Book, One Nabi, One illah the Almighty Allah, so do not place Aza (Hurt) in our beloved Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam’s heart by disrespecting those people whom Allah and Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam, love or you will earn the anger and wrath of Allah.

Bay’ah

Bay’ah (Arabic: بَيْعَة), is an oath of allegiance to a leader. It is known to have been practiced by the prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam. Bay’ah is sometimes taken Under a written pact given on behalf of the subjects by leading members of the tribe with the understanding that as long as the leader abides by certain requirements towards his people, they are to maintain their allegiance to him. Bay’ah is a Wajib (compulsory) practice in Islaam. The Bay’ah is one of the foundations of the Monarchy. In Islamic tradition, the meaning of Bay’ah is the oath of ones self to a spiritual master, the Khalifa in exchange of spiritual knowledge which he gives.

Oh scholars of Al Islam, He who created you understands you best so submit unto His will; unto Him belongs all things (the seen and the unseen) He is the Only One who can conceal and reveal and ye mankind, jin, angels and unknown beings can hide nothing from Him, He is the All-knowing, He is Allah, the One. Alhamdulillahi Rab’bil Alamin.

Authors of books

Throughout the history of Islam many Ulama have left behind them only a lifetime of mediating disputes and giving sermons; their respectable contributions did not include authorship due to the fact that as a scholar you will always only be a scholar, will die a scholar and will be raised a scholar. As scholars of the Deen (religion) we can only be men of understanding as it is Allah Alone who is All-knowing. However there are Ulama who have been prolific authors, of writing translations of the Qur’an or Quranic commentaries, studies of hadith, works of philosophy, religious admonition, etc. There are enormous bodies of religious literature that form not only the substance of the courses in Islamic seminaries, but inspirational reading for the ordinary Muslim. Most of this literature has not been translated into English, but remains in its original language (usually Arabic, Urdu, Persian, or Turkish). Some has been printed; some remains in manuscript form. An example of inspirational reading can be taken from some of the writings done by the founder of the UMN Intl in his letter to a student; studying Quran Psychology, it is a very influential and interesting read for Ulama as well:

[Al Faarooq aka Farook Mohammed giving advice to another scholar: “Akhi (brother) you have been studying with me for so long, and you are one of my most loved students yet you do not understand. In many cases I have advised you so many times yet you do not understand and you’ve asked me why this is so? Akhi (brother) Allah loves you because of your zeal for knowledge, He withholds from you some of the ilm so that you may constantly turn unto Him seeking guidance, by Allah you will understand Inshallah, Akhi (brother) instead of constantly asking if something is Shariah compliant you should ask yourself am I Shariah Compliant? Do I fit the profile of being a Mumin (true believer)? Akhi (brother) open the Holy Quran, read Surah 23:57-62 and ask yourself am I amongst those who are in this race?; read Surah 3:102-104 and ask yourself am I amongst this Nation; read Surah 49:14-15 and know that this is whom you should strive to be, read Surah 4:136 so that you know to understand the different stages of Imaan, read Surah 23:1-11 and ask yourself do I uphold these qualities and am I implementing them in my life? Surah 9:111-112 shows you who you sould be; To know and understand the life of this world read Surah 57:19-24 and contemplate thereon then ask yourself am I inviting others to do the same? Akhi (brother) the Almighty Allah mentions two kinds of people in the Holy Quran, those who will inherit Jannah (Paradise in Heaven) and those who will inherit Jahannum (The Fire of Hell), the choice is ours to make and the warning is clear that we should keep our duties unto Allah, Akhi (brother) being conscious of this fact will make you a good Alim, a learner and a teacher Inshallah; this is what will assist you in the matters of weather something is Shariah Compliant or not, also take heed that the character of our beloved Nabi was that of Al Quran, his Taqlid (imitation) was Shariah read Surah 10:104 as it confirms this fact ”]

This very letter now stands as his Reformist method in his Global Campaign for the Revival of Islamic Culture, using his skills in Quran Psychology; it has brought about massive changes in individuals and their communities. He used the theme of the Holy Quran to construct a Basic Islamic Conduct Guide for the average Muslim; apart from this the UMN Intl Ulama have been making a great success at promoting the Bait ul Maal structure for Masaajid around the world: [See: UMN Intl: Conduct Guide]; [See: UMN Intl: General Masaajid Structure].

Qualification of Scholars

In order to become one of the Ulama in the Islamic Empire, you have to have studied at a Madraseh/ Uloom and be an expert in all the religious sciences, specializing in one or two specifics. In addition, the student had to have been tested and approved by higher ranking Ulama [i.e. his Amir/ Teacher]. Such assessment by the experts presents the legitimacy of the Ulama and in the eyes of the Muslim Ummah, because it is an imitation of the way in which the Khulafah who were appointed after the death of the Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam.

Mujaddid

Being recognised as a Mujaddid (Specialist in Quran Psychology/ Expert the Understanding and Interpretation of the Quran and Sunnah)

(1) You need an expert understanding of the objectives of the Sharia and (2) a knowledge of its sources and methods of deduction. They include:

A competence in the Arabic language which allows him to have a correct understanding of the Qur’an . That is, he must appreciate the subtleties of the language so as to be able to draw accurate deductions from the “clear and un-crooked Arabic” of this infallible source, and that of the Sunnah.

An adequate knowledge of the Makkan and Medinese contents of the Qur’an, the events surrounding their revelation and the incidences of abrogation (suspending or repealing a ruling) revealed therein. He must be fully acquainted with its legal contents (the ayat al-ahkam) The scholar need not have a detailed knowledge of the narratives and parables, nor of the sections relating to the hereafter, but he must be able to use these to infer a legal rule. He needs to be acquainted with all the classical commentaries on the ayat al-ahkam, especially the views of the Companions of our Nabi (Prophet).

An adequate knowledge of the sunnah, especially those related to his specialisation. He needs to know the relative reliability of the narrators of the hadith, and be able to distinguish between the reliable from the weak. He needs to have a thorough knowledge of incidences of abrogation, distinguish between the general and specific, the absolute and the qualified. One estimate suggests that 400,000 hadith need to be known.

He should be able to verify the consensus ijma of the Companions of the Prophet, the successors and the leading imams and mujtahideen of the past, especially with regard to his specialisation. Complementary to this, he should be familiar with the issues on which there is no consensus.

He should have a thorough knowledge of the rules and procedures for reasoning by analogy (qiyas) so he can apply revealed law to an unprecedented case.

He should understand the revealed purposes of sharia, which relate to “considerations of public interest”, including the Five Pillars protection of “life, religion, intellect, lineage” and property. He should also understand the general maxims for the interpretation of sharia, which include the “removal of hardship”, that “certainty must prevail over doubt”, and the achievement of a balance between unnecessary rigidity and too free an interpretation.

He must practice what he preaches, that is he must be an upright person whose judgement people can trust [i.e. a trustworthy person]

Muhadath

1) Man who is inspired by Allah (SWT).
2) The man whose intuition is right because of something that is put in his heart
3) The one who speaks the truth, in other words the truth flows naturally from his mouth without even intending.
4) He’s a man whom Angels speak to without him being a Prophet.

1 Allah gives him direct guidance and Al Quran confirms this in many parts; 2 he automatically is given the knowledge of Al Quran by means of Allah writing Imaan in his heart [e.g. the heart is a Tabut “container” which holds the biggest treasure of all time the covenant “Shahadah/ testimony of faith” with this kept in constant Thikr “remembrance” he obtains al Sakina “Tranquillity, Security, and Allah’s assistance” and Al Quran confirms this; 3 he is truthful based on the fact that he has great love and fear of Allah, this is due to constant Thikr in his heart; 4 he find himself in the company of Angels due to Allah raising his status.

The Muhadath needs not be a scholar at an Islamic School but a Mumin (true believer) and by nature to attain piety and immense love from Allah thus being honoured in this way with a wealth of natural ilm drawn from an ocean of wisdom and knowledge due to Allah opening the doors of understanding to him.

Recognising a Mahadath can be discovered when the person goes through the same test as a Mujaddid/ the basic qualification test of a scholar, a Mahadath is more easily recognised by the saints in Islam/ high ranking Ulama due to the signs that pour from them, some of the signs are abundant Nur [light] coming from them, resemblance in actions similar to that of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam.

It is a Fard/Wajib (compulsory) duty of a scholar to follow the scholar who is higher learned then him/her for as long as the scholar that he/she learns from practices upon the Taqlid (imitation) of the Sunnah.

Senior Ulama in the Islaimic Empire has a large influence over politics because all secular institutions are all subordinate to the Deen (religion); the Ulama are emblems of religious piety, therefore rendering them powerful over state affairs. Ulama work as authorities who have the role of interpreting and enforcing Islamic Shariah law. These jobs are distributed amongst two types of Ulama: Muftis, who interpreted Shariah law and the Qadi, who enforces Shariah law. The Islamic Empire has a strict hierarchy of Ulama, with the Sheikh ul-Islam holding the highest rank. A Sheikh ul-Islam is chosen by a royal warrant amongst the Qadis [judges] of important cities. The Sheikh ul-Islam has the power to confirm new sultans [kings], once the sultan [king] was affirmed, it was the sultan who retained a higher authority than the Sheik ul-Islam. The Sheikh ul-Islam issues Fatwas, which are written interpretations of the Quran that has authority over the community. The Sheikh ul-Islam’s importance and increased power represents the law of Shariah.

History

The formative period of Islamic jurisprudence stretches back to the time of the early Muslim communities. In this period, jurists were more concerned with pragmatic issues of authority and teaching than with theory. Progress in theory happened with the coming of the early Muslim jurist Muhammad ibn Idris ash-Shafi`i (767-820), who codified the basic principles of Islamic jurisprudence in his book ar-Risālah. The book details the four roots of law (Qur’an, Sunnah, ijma, and qiyas) while specifying that the primary Islamic texts (the Qur’an and the hadith) be understood according to objective rules of interpretation derived from scientific study of the Arabic language.

A number of important legal institutions were developed by Muslim jurists during the classical period of Islam, known as the Islamic Golden Age.

Era of Ignorance [the great Fitnah]

The second half of the 20th century was marked by a considerable loss of authority and influence of the Ulama around the world; this is due to the Bid’ah of Fasiq (corrupt) secularist governments who attempted to break the influence of the Ulama after their rise to power. Religious institutions were nationalized and the system of waqf “religious donations”, which constituted the classical source of income for the Ulama, was abolished.

The Bid’ah of secularist Fasiq (corrupt) governments placed the Islamic Universities, as the highest Islamic intellectual authorities, however under the direct control of the Fasiq (corrupt) state. “Some scholars were even put in army uniforms and had to parade like puppets under the command of Fasiq (corrupt) army officers”; The traditional Islamic schools were dissolved and replaced by state-controlled religious schools after claiming Fasiq (corrupt) secular independence which deprived the Ulama of their power and authority. The era of Ignorance brought about a Massive loss of Mumineen in the ranks of Ulama.

The Last Era of Ignorance [Marking the end of the great Fitnah]

The 21st century marked the end of the Era of Ignorance, which is marked by a considerable regain of authority and influence of the Ulama around the world; this is due to the surge for the Revival of Islamic Culture on a global scale. The Revival of Islamic Culture was ignited due to the rise of Islamophobic [i.e. Anti-Muslim/ Anti-Islamic] activities which secularists have no control over; these activities brought about an Islamic Awakening to the entire Ummah [Muslim Nation], it also brought about an opportunity for Dawah [Missionary Work] that has never been seen/ experienced before; this is due to the fact that Islam and Muslims have always been seen as a strange Religion with a strange nation of people by Non-Muslims – though Islam has always been an open Religion. Muslims had to react against Islamophobic Terrorists, thus the massive opportunity of Dawah opened; The Revival of Islamic Culture and Dawah activities of the Muslim Ummah lead to massive numbers of people Reverting to Islam, their reversion is mainly due to their constant curiosity of Islam and Muslims, some and even most reverts to Islam were mostly missionaries, high ranking priests and rabbis from Judaism and Christianity. The 21st century also marked the first time in the History of Islam that the religion had officially became known as the world’s largest [the biggest], and fastest growing religion in the world, so much that Islam is the world’s most popular religion, and the dominant topic of the century.

Important Notice of a Wajib Hijra for Ulama: 1) If the Ulama find themselves in a situation where there is an Ignorant and Fasiq (corrupt) Secularist Government, under whom they are being oppressed and kept from practicing the Deen of Islam as the authorities, it becomes Wajib upon them to perform Hijrah, they should prepare the Muslims of the locality for this Hijrah so that they can gain power in a new locality, upon arrival in a new locality the Deen should be established [i.e. an Islamic State], and the community/ society should be built strongly on the principles of Islam, thereafter the people should be prepared for the struggles in accordance to the goals of liberation in Islam. 2) If a new land is not in reach the people should make Hijrah to a country/ place or community where there is a large population of Muslims so that they can assist the Muslims in establishing an Islamic State.

Islam and Globalization

Islam is a global religion, and is the only religion in the world that covers every inhabited part of the world.

Secularism has no place in a Globalized World, neither does it have any place in Islam as Islam strictly imposes universal unity, mutual respect, love, brotherhood, central rule of law [i.e. Shariah], family values, international liberation of all people, gender equality, fair governance and requests all people to uphold good conduct and to avoid, and even remove any form of indecency.

Issues: Islamic Revival or Reformation of Islam

Islamic Revival is the reformation of the Ummah [Muslim Nation] in compliance to Shariah, reformation of Islam is a Bid’ah [false innovation] thus it is Haram [forbidden], Islam is perfect and complete. Islam can not be reformed.

The only accepted Modern Reformist in Islam are and can only be Ulama who have studied at a Madrassah/ Uloom and their job in reformation is only to assist in the Shari reformation of an Individual/ Community in compliance to the Shariah [e.g. by means of Quran Psychology] whereby you assist the person/ community in self reform by subscribing him/her/them with a basic Islamic Conduct Guide/ Module, this is also a need for people who have gone through Talaq, Marriage, Death in the family or drug abuse leavers; any person who brings about a Bid’ah [false innovation/ change] to Islam is not a Muslim, thus it is Haram [forbidden] to follow such a person.

The Islamic Platinum Age

The Islamic Platinum Age is now in play, it is mainly due to the Global Revival of Islamic Culture.

Muslims are exceeding in all sciences, and are excelling in all business avenues of Islamic Finance; the fair and just Shariah Compliant business modules are replacing the entire Fasiq (corrupt) secularist systems of capitalism and hegemony that was practiced over the poor and needy. Islam is providing the answers to the world’s ailing problems, by providing the world with the only known fully functional and error free system of Islamic Shariah in all matters of life, from finance, psychology, medicine, laws and rights etc…

WARNING TO: THE ULAMA E SOO [Evil Fake Scholars]

The Ulama e Soo (Evil Scholars who spread Batil and Kufr) are Shayaateenul Ins (human devils) who keep the Haqq (truth) of Al Islam in Ikfah (concealment), they are Lajnatush Shaytateen (The Association of Devils) who sell their own souls due to their hearts holding on to Hubb-e-Maal (love of wealth) and Hubb-e-Jaah (love of name and fame); the Ulama e Soo (Evil Scholars who spread Batil and Kufr) have no Haya (Shame and Modesty); they are the ones who for love of this world make false claims, they make Halal (legal) that which is Haraam (forbidden) and whoever follows them will be thrown into the Fire of Hell on the Day of Judgement, they legalize all forms of immorality, they are Lajnaztuz Zina (The Association of Fornication) who oppose Allah’s commands, they allow women to abandon the Niqab of Hijab, so much that they encourage women to fully abandon the Hijab which Almighty Allah clearly states should be imposed if refused.

With blood, sweat and tears we tried to give you warning but everyone ignores it and none is listening. For their eyes, hearing and hearts have been sealed from (Haqq) “the truth” they find it easier to run from the inside, they push the warning away because they are under attack and therefore now it is the appointed time that they feel faint because the truth has come but in reality they are summoned to step up for the ultimate session weather they like it or not they will come crawling forward from every corner of the earth, they will become numb feeling faithless and a heavy feeling of tiredness will set over them because we have broken their habits. This is the cure that we have given unto you so that you may be one step closer. We brought you out from darkness with Nur (the light), shown you the way bare witness that none shall be granted entry to the Kingdom of Allah (Al Islam) unless they follow the clear cut path of Islaam but only men of understanding will reflect and heed that which have been given unto them, the successful are those who fear Allah, and spend that which they love in the path of Allah, this is the sign of their piety and they are the men of understanding. Over and over again will the Thikr (remembrance of Allah) play within your heart automatically hymning without any control you are being taken over from within being prepared for the end.

My brothers; respected Ulama and Elders we have been warned about this:

“There will dawn an age when nothing will remain of Islaam but its name; nothing of the Quran but its text. The Musaajid will be adorned structures whilst utterly corrupt (and devoid) of guidance. The worst of the people (khanaazeer “pigs”) under the canopy of the sky will be their Ulama (i.e. the Ulama-e-Soo). From them (the evil Ulama) will emerge Fitnah (corruption) and the Fitnah will rebound on them.” (Hadith-e-Haqq)

These people the Ulama-e-Soo “Evil Ulama” teachers and students of evil and corruption are all together nothing but Lajnatush Shaytateen (The Association of Devils) also known as Lajnaztuz Zina (The Association of Fornication) who will be disguised as learned men of understanding but will in fact be Shayaateenul Ins (human devils) who will walk the earth with absolutely no Haya (Shame and Modesty) making blind fatwas leading men to Hellfire.

“He who imparts knowledge (of the Deen) to unfit (pigs such as the swine’s of the Lajnatush Shaytateen) is like one who garlands swine’s with diamonds, pearls and gold.”

They the Ulama-e-Soo “Evil Ulama” are under the La’nat (curse) of Allah; you will find within them Hubb-e-Maal (love of wealth) and Hubb-e-Jaah (love of name and fame)

Be warned about them, as they want to change the Deen under their evil banner called Reformation of Islam; take heed Oh true representatives of Al Quran and Sunnah, ya Mumineen Islam our Deen can not be reformed, reformation means change, such are innovations. Ya Mumineen it is Islamic Revival that stands in their way, the revival of Islamic Culture is not reformation of the Deen but reformation of the individual person to comply with Quran and Sunnah. They come with names as Modern Reformists so be one who distinguishes between the Modern Reformist who brings people onto Al Islam to isolate the one who brings innovations to the Deen, the difference is clear the Muslim between the two is he who reforms to comply with Quran and Sunnah where as the other comes with evil and Fatwa contrary to Islamic teachings, he is one who will never make Ijma.

UMN Intl Ulama’s message to the Ulama e Soo [Evil Ulama of Bid’ah, Baatil and Kufr] take ye heed we are the minority, and we are strangers unto you, we are those who uphold the Shariah of Allah, we are those who hear and we obey, we are those who have received the Book into our hearts with clear understanding, take ye heed of Surah 5:48-50, we are the men of understanding and we follow the way as followed by the Sahabah the Mathab e Rasul. The difference between us and you is that you may well know the words of Al Quran but are ignorant thereof, whereas we are the ones who understand Al Quran, fulfil its rights and upholds the laws therein so to you Oh ignorant ones who are amongst those described in Surah 2:84-85, you who imitate the ignorant nations before you, ye shall be raised amongst them. Take ye heed that the mark of Allah’s anger on a nation is division amongst its people which is due to their imitating of those nations before us who have earned His anger, and because of them going astray, your sins are like that of Yahood who have slain the prophets and your similarity to this effect is that your forefathers have slain the righteous Khalulafah, you will inherit Hell fire for your setting up partners with Allah, Oh Ignorant nations yours will be an awful doom.

Authority of Islam (Islaam)

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful

There is only One Authority in Islaam that commands and should be obeyed at all cost, the Authority is the Almighty Allah Alone, He has no partner, and none has any share in His sovereignty, His spirit of command “the revelation Al-Quran” is His guidance and commandment unto mankind, the Holy Quran is the superiority on Earth. It is the Holy Quran whereby True Believing Men of Understanding make judgement and nothing else; such men (Mumineen) True believers depend only on the guidance (Al-Quran) of Allah. From the Holy Quran the Almighty Allah shows us the qualities of those on whom He has given limited authority to make judgement by Quran and thereby rule the World. The people of such status have been given many titles by Allah in the Holy Quran some of which to mention are “True Believers”, “Men of Understanding”, “Slaves/ Servants of Allah”, “Friend of Allah” and the list goes on they are respectfully known as True Muslims i.e. people who are perfect and complete in total submission to the will of Allah. Al Quran confirms this see Surah 4:25-76

The Ulama are representatives of Allah’s Authority [His Word] on earth Not His partners.

Each True Muslim is ranked in piety, and this piety is obtained when he forgoes the worldly desires and seeks only the pleasure of Allah by changing his focus from the world to desires of the good to come of the Hereafter, the sign of their royalty and kingship is their loyalty to the will of Allah.

UMN Intl: Excuses Of Muslim Women Who Don’t Wear Hijab

Top Ten Excuses Of Muslim Women Who Don’t Wear Hijaab And Their Obvious Weaknesses

By Dr. Huwayda Ismaeel
Rendered into English from Al-Bayaan Magazine

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful,
Get on the train of repentance my sister, before it passes by your station. Deeply consider my sister, what is happening today before tomorrow comes. Think, my sister – starting now.

All praise is due to Allah Ta’aala as is deserved by His Majesty and Great Power. I send prayers and ask for blessings upon His Noble Messenger who drew the path for us to the pleasure of Allah and His Jannah. This path is a straight one that is surrounded by virtue from all sides and attends to the best moral characteristics which are increased by the clothing of purity, concealment, and chastity. It is the path trod by the two halves of human society, namely the man and the woman, toward harmonious contentment and happiness in this life and the Hereafter.

This is precisely why the Protector, the blessed and above all imperfection, has made wearing hijaab an obligation upon the woman as a safeguard of her chastity and protection of her honor and sign of her faith (Eemaan). It is on account of this that societies (both Muslim and non-Muslim) that have distanced themselves from the way of Allah and deviated from His straight path, are ill societies in need of treatment that will lead them to recovery and happiness.

Among the pictures that point to the distance of society from that path and that make clear the level of its deviation and separation from it is the open spread of women not just uncovering their faces but enhancing and making a display of their beauty. We find that, regretfully, this is commonly manifested in Islamic (Muslim) society despite the fact Islamic clothing is also widespread (and available). So then, what are the reasons that have led to this digression?

We put this question to a varied group of women from whom we derived ten major excuses and upon examination and scrutiny, the frailty of the excuses became evident to us.

Stay with us dear Muslim sister in these few lines so that we can know through them the reasons for turning away from the hijaab and then discuss each:
Excuse One: I’m not yet convinced (of the necessity) of hijaab.

We then ask this sister two questions:

One: Is she truly convinced of the correctness of the religion of Islam?

The natural answer is: Yes, she is convinced, for she responds “Laa ilaaha illallah!” (There is no God but Allah), meaning she is convinced of the ‘aqeedah, and then she says: “Muhammadun rasoolullah!” (Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah), meaning by that that she is convinced of its legislation or law (sharee’ah). Therefore, she is convinced of Islam as a belief system and a law by which one governs and rules her life.

Two: Is the hijaab then a part of Islamic Law (sharee’ah) and an obligation?

If this sister is honest and sincere in her intention and has looked into the issue as one who truly wants to know the truth her answer could only be: “Yes”. For Allah ta’aala, Whose Divinity (Uloohiyyah) she believes in has commanded wearing hijaab in His Book (Al-Qur’aan); and the noble Prophet, (‘alaihi salaat wa salaam) whose message she believes in, has commanded wearing the hijaab in his sunnah.

What do we call a person who says they believe in and are content with the correctness of Islam but who nonetheless does not do what Allah or His Messenger have ordered? Certainly they can in no way be described as those whom Allah speaks of in this aayah:

The only saying of the faithful believers when they are called to Allah and His Messenger to judge between them is that they say ‘we hear and obey’ and such are the successful. [Soorah An-Noor 24:51]

In summary: If this sister is convinced of Islam, how then can she not be convinced of its orders?

Excuse Two: I am convinced of Islamic dress but my mother prevents me from wearing it and if I disobey her I will go to the Fire.

The one who has answered this excuse is the most noble of Allah’s creation, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) in concise and comprehensive words of wisdom: There is no obedience to the created in the disobedience of Allah. [Ahmed]

The status of parents in Islam, especially the mother, is a high and elevated one. Indeed Allah ta’aala has combined it with the greatest of matters, worshipping Him and His tawheed, in many aayaat.

He stated: Worship Allah and join none with Him and do good to parents. [Soorah An-Nisaa 4:36] Obedience to parents is not limited except in one aspect, and that is if they order to disobedience of Allah. Allah said: But if they strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not. [Soorah Luqmaan 31:15]

The lack of obedience to them in sinfulness does not prevent being good to them and kind treatment of them. Allah said afterward in the same aayah: But behave with them in the world kindly.

In summary: How can you obey your mother and disobey Allah, Who created you and your mother?
Excuse Three: My position does not allow me to substitute my dress for Islamic dress.

This sister is either one or the other of two types: She is sincere and honest, or she is a slippery liar who desires to make a showy display of her “hijaab” clamoring with colors to be “in line with the times” and expensive.

We will begin with an answer to the honest and sincere sister:

Are you unaware my dear sister, that it is not permissible for the Muslim woman to leave her home in any instance unless her clothing meets the conditions of Islamic hijaab (Hijaab shar’ee) and it is a duty of every Muslim woman to know what they are? If you have taken the time and effort to learn so many matters of this world how then can you be neglectful of learning those matters which will save you from the punishment of Allah and His anger after death!? Does Allah not say: Ask the people of remembrance (i.e. knowledgeable scholars) if you do not know. [Soorah An-Nahl 16:43]. Learn therefore, the requirements of proper hijaab.

If you must go out, then do so only with the correct hijaab, seeking the pleasure of Allah and the degradation of Shaitaan. That is because the corruption brought about by your going out adorned and “beautified” is far greater than the matter which you deem necessary to go out for.

My dear sister if you are really truthful in your intention and correctly determined you will find a thousands hands of good assisting you and Allah will make the matter easy for you! Is He not the One Who says: And whoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty) and He will provide him from sources he never could imagine. [Soorah At-Talaaq 65:2-3]?

With regards to the ‘slippery’ one we say:

Honor and position is something determined by Allah Ta’aala and it is not due to embellishment of clothing and show of colors and keeping up with the trendsetters. It is rather due to obedience to Allah and His Messenger (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) and holding to the pure law of Allah and correct Islamic hijaab. Listen to the words of Allah: Indeed, the most honorable amongst you are those who are the most pious. [Soorah Al-Hujuraat 49:35]

In summary: Do things in the way of seeking Allah’s pleasure and entering His Jannah and give less value to the high priced and costly objects and wealth of this world.
Excuse Four: It is so very hot in my country and I can’t stand it. How could I take it if I wore the hijaab?

Allah gives an example by saying: Say: The Fire of Hell is more intense in heat if they only understand. [Soorah At-Taubah 9:81]

How can you compare the heat of your land to the heat of the Hellfire?

Know, my sister, that Shaitaan has trapped you in one of his feeble ropes to drag you from the heat of this world to the heat of the Hellfire. Free yourself from his net and view the heat of the sun as a favor and not an affliction especially in that it reminds you of the intensity of the punishment of Allah which is many times greater than the heat you now feel. Return to the order of Allah and sacrifice this worldly comfort in the way of following the path of salvation from the Hellfire about which Allah says: They will neither feel coolness nor have any drink except that of boiling water and pus. [Soorah An-Naba' 78:24-25]

In summary: The Jannah is surrounded by hardships and toil, while Hellfire is surrounded by temptations, lusts and desires.
Excuse Five: I’m afraid that if I wear the hijaab I will take it off at another time because I have seen so many others do so!

To her I say: If everyone was to apply your logic then they would have left the Deen in its entirety! They would have left off salaat because some would be afraid of leaving it later. They would have left fasting in Ramadhan because so many are afraid of not doing it later, etc. Haven’t you seen how Shaitaan has trapped you in his snare again and blocked you from guidance?

Allah Ta’aala loves continuous obedience even if it be small or recommended. How about something that is an absolute obligation like wearing hijaab? The prophet (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: The most beloved deed with Allah is the consistent one though it be little. Why haven’t you sought out the causes leading those people to leave off the hijaab so that you can avoid them and work to keep away from them? Why haven’t you sought out reasons and causes to affirm truth and guidance until you can hold firm to them?

Among these causes is much supplication to Allah (du’aa) to make the heart firm upon the Deen as did the prophet (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam). Also is making salaat and having mindfulness of it as Allah stated:

And seek help in patience and the prayer and truly it is extremely heavy except for the true believers in Allah who obey Allah with full submission and believe in His promise of Jannah and in His warnings (Al-Khaashi’oon). [Soorah Al-Baqarah 2:45]

Other causes to put one upon guidance and truth is adherence to the laws of Islam and one of them is indeed wearing the hijaab. Allah said: If they had done what they were told, it would have been better for them and would have strengthened their faith. [Soorah Al-Baqarah 2:66]

In summary: If you hold tight to the causes of guidance and taste the sweetness of faith you will not neglect the orders of Allah after having held to them.
Excuse Six: If I wear the hijaab then nobody will marry me, so I’m going to leave it off until then.

Any husband who desires that you be uncovered and adorned in public in defiance of and in disobedience to Allah, is not a worthy husband in the first place. He is a husband who has no feeling to protect what Allah has made inviolable, most notably yourself, and he will not help you in any way to enter Al-Jannah or escape from the Hellfire. A home which is founded upon disobedience to Allah and provocation of His anger is fitting that He decree misery and hardship for it in this life and in the Hereafter. As Allah stated: But whosoever turns away from My reminder (i.e. neither believes in the Qur’aan nor acts upon its teachings) verily for him is a life of hardship and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection. [Soorah Ta Ha 20:124]

Marriage is a favor and blessing from Allah to whom He give whom He wills. How many women who wear hijaab (mutahajibah) are in fact married while many who don’t aren’t? If you were to say that ‘..my being made-up and uncovered is a means to reach a pure end, namely marriage’, a pure goal or end is not attained through impure and corrupt means in Islam. If the goal is honorable then it must necessarily be achieved by pure and clean method. We say the rule in Islam is: The means are according to the rules of the intended goals.

In summary: There is no blessing in a marriage established upon sinfulness and corruption.
Excuse Seven: I don’t wear hijaab based on what Allah says: And proclaim the grace of your Rabb [Soorah Ad-Dhuhaa 93:11] How can I cover what Allah has blessed me with of silky soft hair and captivating beauty?

So this sister of ours adheres to the Book of Allah and its commands as long as they coincide with her personal desires and understanding! She leaves behind those matters when they don’t please her. If this was not the case, then why doesn’t she follow the aayah: And do not show off their adornment except only that which is apparent [Soorah An-Noor 24:31] and the statement of Allah subhaanah: Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks all over their bodies [Soorah Al-Ahzaab 33:59]?

With this statement my sister you have now made a shari’ah (law) for yourself of what Allah Ta’aala has strictly forbidden, namely beautification (at-tabarruj) and uncovering (as-sufoor), and the reason: Your lack of wanting to adhere to the order. The greatest blessing or favor that Allah has bestowed upon us is that of Eemaan (faith) and hidaayah (guidance) and among them is the Islamic hijaab. Why then do you not manifest and talk about this greatest of blessings given to you?

In summary: Is there a greater blessing and favor upon the woman than guidance and hijaab?
Excuse Eight: I know that hijaab is obligatory (waajib), but I will wear it when Allah guides me to do so.

We ask this sister on what plans or steps she will undertake until she accepts this divine guidance? We know that Allah has in His wisdom made a cause or means for everything. That is why the sick take medicine to regain health, and the traveler rides a vehicle or an animal to reach his destination, and other limitless examples.

Has this sister of ours seriously endeavored to seek true guidance and exerted the proper means to get it such as: Supplicating Allah sincerely as He stated: Guide us to the Straight Path. [Soorah Al-Faatihah 1:6]; Keeping company with the righteous good sisters – for they are among the best to assist her to guidance and to continue to point her to it until Allah guides her and increases her guidance and inspires her to further guidance and taqwaa. She would then adhere to the orders of Allah and wear the hijaab that the believing women are commanded to wear.

In summary: If this sister was really serious about seeking guidance she would have exerted herself by the proper means to get it.
Excuse Nine: It’s not time for that yet. I’m still too young for wearing hijaab. I’ll do it when I get older and after I make Hajj!

The Angel of Death my sister, is visiting and waiting at your door for the order of Allah Ta’aala to open it on you at any moment in your life. Allah said: When their term comes, neither can they delay it nor can they advance it an hour (or a moment). [Soorah Al-An'aam 7:34]. Death my sister doesn’t discriminate between the young or the old and it may come while you are in this state of great sinfulness disobedience, fighting against the Lord of Honor with your uncovering and shameless adornment. My sister, you should race to obedience along with those others who race to answer the call of Allah tabaaraka wa ta’aala: Race with one another in hastening towards forgiveness from your Lord and Paradise the width whereof is as the width of the heavens and the earth. [Soorah Al-Hadeed 57:21]

Sister, don’t forget Allah or He will forget you by turning His mercy away from you in this life and the next. You are forgetting your own soul by not fulfilling the right of your soul to obey Allah and proper worship of Him. Allah stated about the hypocrites (Al-Munaafiqoon): And be not like those who forgot Allah and He caused them to forget their own selves. [Soorah Al-Hashr 59:19] My sister, wear the hijaab in your young age in opposition to the sinful deeds because Allah is intense in punishment and will ask you on the Day of Resurrection about your youth and every moment of your life.

In summary: Stop presuming some future expectation in your life will indeed occur! How can you guarantee your own life until tomorrow?
Excuse Ten: I’m afraid that if I wear Islamic clothing that I’ll be labeled as belonging to some group or another and I hate partisanship.

My sister in Islam, there are only two parties in Islam, and they are both mentioned by Allah Almighty in His Noble Book. The first party is the party of Allah (hizbullah) that He gives victory to because of their obedience to His commands and staying away from what He has forbidden. The second party is the party of the accursed Shaitaan (hizbush-Shaitaan) which disobeys the Most Merciful and increase corruption in the earth. When you hold tight to and adhere to the commands of Allah, and among them is wearing the hijaab – you then become a part of the successful party of Allah. When you beautify and display your charms you are riding in the boat of Shaitaan and his friends and partners from among the hypocrites and the disbelievers and none worse could there be as friends.

Don’t you see how you are running from Allah and to the Shaitaan, trading filth for good? Run instead my sister to Allah and follow His way: So flee to Allah (from His Torment to His mercy). Verily I (Muhammad) am a plain warner to you from Him. [Soorah Adh-Dhaariyaat 51:50] The hijaab is a high form of worship that is not subject to the opinions of people and their orientations and choices because the one who legislated it is the Most Wise Creator.

In summary: In the way of seeking the pleasure of Allah and in hope of His Mercy and success in His Jannah and throw the statements of the devils among people and jinn against the wall! Hold tight to the legislation of Allah by your molars and follow the example of the striving and knowledgeable Mothers of the Believers and the female companions (radiallahu ‘anhum ajma’een).
In Conclusion

Your body is on display in the market of Shaitaan seducing the hearts of men.The hairstyles, the tight clothing showing every detail of your figure, the short dresses showing off your legs and feet, and the showy, decorative and fragrant clothing all anger the Merciful and please the Shaitaan. Every day that passes while you are in this condition distances you further from Allah and brings you closer to Shaitaan. Each day curses and anger are directed toward you from the heavens until you repent. Every day brings you closer to the grave and the Angel of Death is ready to capture your soul.

Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Hellfire and admitted to Al-Jannah, is indeed successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing). [Soorah Aale 'Imraan 3:185]

Get on the train of repentance my sister, before it passes by your station. Deeply consider my sister, what is happening today before tomorrow comes. Think about it, my sister – Now, before it is too late!

UMN Intl: The Satanic Rituals of Satans Third Temple

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful,

The Kufaar [Non-Muslims] are planning to build a House for Satan in Al Quds where the Holy Masjid Al Aqsa is located, as planned by them the building is to be used for Satanic Rituals of manslaughter which they call sacrificial worship. The plan is to use Satan’s Temple to invoke the Evil Spirit [Armilus / Dajjal / Anti-Christ ] also known as the Demon Son of Zion. The Jewish and Christian people will become Demon Possessed by evil Jinn [Spirits] who enter their bodies, children will be used as burnt offerings [fire offerings of ISRAHELL]. Knowing that they will not succeed in their evil plot they will still build Satan’s Temple in a place called Judea where the Dajjal will be released.

We need to fight back and warn The People of the Book, we need to fight back with Haqq [the Truth] by deriving the proof from the Torah, Bible and Quran which will confirm the Truth and it is about time we expose the Truth from Falsehood. Sadly many people have already been mislead by the Islamophobic Zionists.

Beloved brothers and brethren in faith; Since we have the Ark of the Covenent [Arabic: Tabut al Sakina]; [Aramaic: Tebuta el Shakinah] we need to show it to the world in the light of the Holy Scriptures:

“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Sakina which is in you and which ye have from God, and that ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s…” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

The Tabut [Ark] a container which is [your heart] that holds the Divine Covenant of al Sakina [The Shahada].

Exposing The Holy Temple Within: [Click Here to view full Article]

UMN Intl: Inviting Daniel Pipes to Islam

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful,

Mr Daniel Pipes however odd this invite may seem not only to yourself but to even some Muslims as well.

Since you have made yourself such famous a name in being an outspoken critic of Islam, and giving your criticism of various scholars I cannot help but notice the similarity you share with people who criticised Islam during the lifetime of our beloved Nabi Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam.

Call us oldschool we are still remaining on the original path of Islam, I think that it would only be fair to give you some food for thought which will be a challenge to your criticism.

We have perfectly listed for you some articles to read and reflect on, from hereon judge for yourself.

Whether you accept Islam or not it is the choice you made on your own.

1) The Beauty of Islam [Brief but detailed introduction to Islam]

2) Is Islam an anti-Christ Movement? [The Answers]

3) UMN Intl: America and the Terrorist Within [Looking in the Mirror]

4) The Truth About Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him)

5) UMN Intl: Islamic Spiritual Guidance [Defeating Extremism and Terrorism]

6) UMN Intl: Restoring America’s Image [Helping a falling nation]

7) Allah The One (Allahu Ahad) Shema Yisrael Shahada [Ultimate religious Debate]

In case you do not accept our offer we refer you to Surah 109:

Surah 109. Al-Kafirun

1. Say: O disbelievers!

2. I worship not that which ye worship;

3. Nor worship ye that which I worship.

4. And I shall not worship that which ye worship.

5. Nor will ye worship that which I worship.

6. Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion.

Mr Daniel Pipes and one more Surah we have for you is Surah 110:

Surah 110. An-Nasr

1. When Allah’s succour and the triumph cometh

2. And thou seest mankind entering the religion of Allah in troops.

3. Then hymn the praises of thy Lord, and seek forgiveness of Him. Lo! He is ever ready to show mercy.

From the Holy Quran - Surah 3. Al-Imran

102. O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him);

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful,

Beloved Muslim Ummah do not be fooled by hoaxes or overwhelmed with the witnessing of events.

An opportunity awaits us each year and that opportunity is Global Muslim Unity and the Revival of complete Islamic Culture throughout the world.

That opportunity comes in the blessed Month of Ramadhaan, a blessed and beloved time when we are strong whilst the Kufaar think we are weak; It is a time when we take part in the greatest battles Jihadul Nafs [A Struggle against Inner Worldly Desires] a Jihad against oneself to purify the heart, the mind, the body and the soul. Prepare for Ramadhaan, Prepare and gear up with your greatest weapon Imaan [Faith]. Strengthen your heart fellow Muslim.

From the Holy Quran - Surah 3. Al-Imran

102. O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him);

UMN Intl: Advent and Advancement of Islam

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful,

All Praise be unto Allah (Alone), Lord of all creation; There is no other Illah (Deity) but Allah and Mohammed is His Final Prophet and Messenger.

Islam [Submission to the will of Allah] came into existance since the first of the Almighty Allah’s creations came into being for the Almighty Allah only says [commands] to a thing Be! And it is [i.e. it comes into existance].

The Almighty Allah created bodies and creatures both seen and unseen; to us [mankind] some are known and others unknown [i.e. Jinn (جني), Malaekah (ملائكة) and Hoor al Ayn among others]

Islam is a religion, the only true religion and way of life to live by so that one may become Successful in this world and in the Hereafter.

People who follow the religion of Islam are called Muslims (Hebrew: Mushlam) [i.e. they are people who are perfect and complete in total submission to the will of Allah]; Muslims conduct their lives by (Shari’ah) the rules and guidance in the Holy Quran as revealed by the Almighty Allah.

A Muslim lives a life that is a constant (Jihad) [i.e. a struggle against all evils]

The following link: [The Beauty of Islam] is a brief but detailed introduction to the religion of Muslims.

Muslims have faced many suffering times due to constant harassment of Islamophobic People [Racists] also known as Kufar [Non-Believers]; however Muslims became stronger and more dominant as people began to revert to Islam.

The Kufaar [Non-Believers] used to brand Muslims as evil and called the religion of Islam an Anti-Christ Movement but soon people came to realise that it is not true. The following link [Is Islam an anti-Christ Movement?] is an example that stands as hard evidence against the false claims people used to make against Islam.

The Final Prophet and Messenger Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’salaam was the best of creation to have ever walked upon the face of the earth, he is the best character and example to follow. The following link [The Truth About Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him] tells you the truth about the character of our beloved Nabi [Prophet] and [Rasul] Messenger.

Islam not only Dominates the World but Rules the World. The following link [Islam Dominates (Rules) The World] proves this fact.

A question to ask yourself if you are not Muslim is why? Because from all the evidence given to you in the above mentioned you need to ask what is missing in your life. To those who disagree/ think they are right/ think they can debate this matter the following link is just for you [Allah The One (Allahu Ahad) Shema Yisrael Shahada]

UMN Intl: Inviting Keith Rupert Murdoch and family to Islam

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful,

Mr. Murdoch and family we are more than 100% sure that you have heard, read and even spoke about Islam, the Holy Quran and Muslims. No matter what the topic was about you have either read it, heard it and most certainly also spoken about it in private or in public life. A question about Islam, the Holy Quran, the Almighty Allah and Muslim lifestyle must have crossed your mind at some point in time, a question unanswered… Today we will give you the answer, today we challenge you personally yes you the Murdoch family. We want you to discover the truth for yourself it will be a challenge between you and faith.

To sum up the message of the Almighty Allah unto mankind as He commands in the Holy Scriptures we find that He (Allah) the Lord of all things that exist only mentions two kinds of people [Those who will inherit Jannah (Paradise in Heaven) and those who will inherit Jahannum (The Fire of Hell)]; He also mentions the qualities of these two very different kinds of people [Muninun (True Believers) and Kufaar (Non-Believers)]. The Almighty Allah commands all of mankind to worship Him Alone [Monotheism] and mankind is commanded to implement the qualities of Mumineen (True Believers) into their lives so that mankind may be successful in this life and in the Hereafter.

[Click Here] To download the Basic Islamic Conduct Guide; [Click Here] To download an English Copy of the Holy Quran.

From hereon judge for yourself, and if you doubt then I suggest you read the proof from the Bible itself stating that Islam is the True Religion given to all of mankind from the Almighty Allah. [Click Here] to see the biblical proof.

And if you still do not believe then I say to you: “O disbeliever! I worship not that which ye worship; Nor worship ye that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which ye worship. Nor will ye worship that which I worship. Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion.”

UMN Intl: The Study and Implementation of Quran Psychology

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful,

The study and implementation of Islamic Psychology [Quran Psychology] is one of the greatest fields of Islamic Studies, it helps the Islamic Scholar obtain a better understanding of all other fields of study. The study of Quran Psychology can only be done through personal implementation of all the psychological aspects as found in the Holy Quran.

Students of this subject may wonder where one should start well the answer is the Holy Quran.

I will make it an easy task for all students and those interested in this field of study. As an expert in Quran Psychology and various other fields I will share with you some of my notes and articles.

[Click Here] To download the Basic Islamic Conduct Guide, this will be your starting point of this subject which is Developmental Psychology. As you go along in your re-search listing and implementing more and more of these qualities into your own personal life you will discover the impact these recommendations would have not only on an individual but on an entire community. You may test one of your patients with the Basic Islamic Conduct Guide, ask them to implement these qualities into their daily lifestyle and observe them [him/her] after two follow-up sessions.

Quran Psychology is a field of personal study in the end it is and have always been a matter between you and the Almighty. Quran Psychology is a vast field of sciences that rolls like a wave upon wave, the benefits of my recommendation is vast as well, students who are studying other fields of Islamic Sciences be it finance or history etc… will benefit by implementing these qualities as it will help them to have a clear and better understanding of the subjects that they are studying, it also places them at a more comfortable state whilst studying. My recommendation will teach you who you truly are.

As a test list 5 qualities of a Mumin as mentioned in Quran, then list 5 qualities of a Kafir as mentioned in Quran thereafter compare yourself with both these lists. Your natural instinct will lead you along the way. After doing this create a daily exercise for yourself and challenge yourself to at least implement one quality of the Mumineen permanently into your life. Who said doctors don’t believe in miracles?

Introduction

As a Muslim woman, born, brought up and educated in England, I have sometimes experienced some discomfort in practicing Western psychology as a psychotherapist. Many times I see patients who I believe would benefit from a more holistic approach, taking into account their spiritual needs as well as their emotional and physical needs, but it is as if there is a taboo in mixing faith with treatment – it is not “acceptable” or considered “professional”. In our training as psychologists, spirituality is hardly even mentioned, and if it is, it is done so usually in a very negative way. I was interested in analysing why there was this split in psychology and religion, why in the West it is that any integration of the two is viewed with suspicion. Through a little research and reflection it became apparent that this split in psychology and religion actually reflects the split between science and religion in the West. Indeed the schism between science and religion is the defining characteristic of Western thought, leading to a separation of sacred and secular discourses.

The Split between Western Science and Religion

The reasons for this actually lie in the Renaissance period of Western history many centuries ago when the church was seen to be an obstacle to scientific advancement. The ideas of philosophers and scientists were banned from publication and discussion; e.g. Galileo who observed through the then new invention of the telescope that the earth moves around the sun and the sun does not move around the earth, as thought at the time, was labeled a heretic by the church and placed under house arrest. His views were considered contradictory to Christian teaching. Bruno who publicly stated such ideas was interrogated by the Inquisition and then punished by burning to death at the stake.

The result of this repression and persecution by religious authorities was a split between science and church. But ultimately, science was victorious over the church because the evidence of its rational observation and experimentation just became too compelling. As a consequence, all religion became associated with being backward, superstitious, and regressive, and so secularism – which was a rejection of religion – became associated with being rational, liberated and progressive. Even hundreds of years after the conflict between church and science, the effect on the Western psyche is still very apparent. This is why the secular discourse still remains the only acceptable discourse. It is important to give this historical perspective as it helps us to understand why it is so difficult to bring any religious or spiritual meaning to science nowadays (and of course to my particular field of psychology).

This conference is special not just because it is “ Women in science” but “Muslim” women in science. It is important that we celebrate this identity proudly. There is no contradiction in being Muslim and pursuing science.

Islam and Science

There has never been a split/ schism in the Islamic tradition, between religion and science as in the West. Indeed Islamic civilisation began to flourish in the 8th century A.D. The Persian and Roman civilisations were in decline and Europe was still in the dark ages. Interestingly it was not until the Renaissance (around the 15th century) that Western scholars had access to the Arabic material, which was then taught at Universities several centuries after the original work had been carried out. Many principles of modern scientific method had already been established by Muslims. For example, the employment of doubt, by Al- Ghazzali, as a prelude to reaching certain knowledge; the founding of the philosophy of history by Ibn Khaldun; medical and surgical advances which formed the basis of medical study in Western institutions for several centuries- contributions of Razi (called Rhazes in the west), Ibn Sina (Avicenna), Abul-Qasim (Abucassis), the mathematical concepts of algebra, zero, ciphenas espoused by the likes of al- Khayyam, and al- Birund. You name it, Muslim scholars made some contribution. It is significant that the West rarely acknowledges the great debt it owes Islamic scholarship – in English schools for example, we are taught about Roman civilisation/ Ancient Egypt, but never the Islamic civilisation and contributions to knowledge. The first Universities and Hospitals (both open to men and women, it should be noted e.g. Qarawiyyin University here in Fez) were constructed during this time, centuries ahead of the first such institutions in the West. Science and religion were seen as complementary and not contradictory. Indeed the scientists considered it their religious duty to pursue such knowledge. It is interesting to note that the first words revealed to the Prophet (pbuh) pertained to the importance of knowledge: not just for a small elite but for all people.

“Read in the Name of your Lord, Who created. Creates man from a clot. Read, and your Lord is the Most Bounteous. Who teaches by the pen. Teaches man that which he knew not.” (Quran, 96: 1-5)

It was with the demise of the Islamic civilization that Muslims lost their lead in science. However, we should not just look sentimentally to past glories but into a determined vision for the future. If we take hold once again of our great Islamic legacy there is no reason why we cannot regain our position in the forefront of science instead of lagging behind in the manner we are doing today. We are transferring technology from the West now, when the West used to transfer technology and knowledge from the East. Let us move from the backseat to the driver’s seat.

Types of Knowledge

According to the Islamic perspective, knowledge is of two types: “revealed” Divine knowledge and material knowledge. Divine knowledge is intuitive, subjectively experienced and leads to a transformation in the individual. Material knowledge is what is generally considered to be “objective” and is experienced more as a process of accumulating information. There is a difference in transformation and information. For example, in today’s Universities information is collected in the head but one can walk in and out of University with the only difference being a change in age and perceived status but not as a human being. Divine knowledge and material knowledge though are not necessarily contradictory. They reflect the co-existence of the two different (but not opposing) dimensions: the spiritual dimension and the physical dimension. 2.

Islam and Notions of the Self

It is interesting to note that the Human Being is considered to be the meeting point of these two different dimensions. The arabic word for such a meeting point is barzakh – interspace: SPIRITUAL + ————–( (BARZAKH) PHYSICAL
Figure 1.

In the light of this Islamic perspective, any efforts to gain an understanding of the self require a study of the spiritual aspect of the self. Knowledge of the self, and what it means to be human, in modern times however is not so much the domain of religion as the domain of the field of psychology. In todays’ secular age, the field of psychology is in a way the new theology, and therapists and psychologists are the priests of this age. The irony is that the word “psychology” is based on the Greek word psyche, meaning “soul”, or, “spirit”. Psychology therefore means study of the soul. However it is now anything but, and indeed the idea of a soul or spiritual nature is not even acknowledged in mainstream psychology. As I discussed earlier this attitude of rejecting the spiritual can be traced to the implicit assumptions of Western psychology rooted in secularism – which arose out of a negation of religion or spiritual experience. Instead, within Western psychology, a fragmented view of man is presented. In trying to gain a deeper understanding of human nature, Western psychological theories have tended to focus only on one aspect of the self, e.g. pyschoanalysis focuses on the unconscious, cognitive psychology focuses on thoughts, and behavioural psychology focuses on behaviour. No doubt, important insights have been gained, yet no model is truly comprehensive in itself. I believe most Western psychotherapies are limited at both ends of the spectrum – they ignore individual spirituality, and they ignore the effects of socio-political factors on the lives of the clients. Fundamental questions relating to man’s existence e.g. ( Where have we come from? ( What is our purpose in life? ( What happens after we die? cannot be addressed even by the more sophisticated approaches in mainstream psychology. So really how much knowledge of the self do they have, and how deep is their understanding of human psychology? Even very ‘new’ more integrated therapies which try to include more than one aspect of the self are limited, as they too ignore a dimension of the self which many people regard as central to being human – the spiritual dimension.

On the other hand all Muslims should be excellent psychologists. Our whole life is based on knowing the answers to these basic questions. Wherever you go, from remote villages to modern cities, practising Muslims will be able to tell that we are on a journey: Before we were born we were with Allah, and all souls bore witness that Allah is their Lord ( 7:172) Our purpose in this life is to worship Allah (51:56) After death we will be raised up and according to our deeds in this lifetime we will be rewarded or punished (101:5-8).

Importance of Developing Islamic Psychology

From an Islamic perspective, any truly comprehensive psychology can only develop out of a very different set of assumptions. In effect a different paradigm of knowledge is required, so that a genuine ‘study of the soul’ can take place and a ‘genuine psychology’, (remember the word psychology means study of the soul), which addresses all aspects of the self can emerge. This is why I believe that it is very important that Muslims define and develop Islamic psychology based on the Quran, which Muslims regard as the most reliable source of knowledge possible, as it is from Allah who created us and therefore knows absolutely everything about us. Other knowledge may give us ‘glimpses’ of truths about ourselves as researchers continually ‘discover’ what Allah has created. However, human theories remain limited as they lack the overall picture: they have a very narrow context. For no matter how ‘intelligent’ scientists are, they will always be limited and fallible and subject to the time and culture they live in. And while they might try to address details of specific problems, they do not have answers for the most basic of questions people face regarding the meaning and purpose of life.

I have proposed a model of the self, outlining different aspects of the self, together with the differing influences of the self (both internal and external). I have attempted to show how insights from modern knowledge can be integrated into notions of the self, based on Islamic principles, so that a creative synthesis may be possible of the two different bodies of knowledge. This model also indicates implications for the therapeutic interventions. Cognitive, behavioural, affective aspects of the self are acknowledged, as is the validity of drawing on techniques (as opposed to overall rationale or implicit metaphysics) of various Western psychological approaches. It emphasises the unification of the different aspects of the self via the spiritual aspect. In this model spirituality underlies and has the capacity to influence all aspects of the self. The aim and method of Islamic psychology, then, is not fragmentation but unification – acknowledging and returning man to his original state of wholeness.

From an Islamic point of view, human beings are not simply physical beings – complex animals. They have another dimension to them, their spirituality, which links them to God. In the Quranic account of creation, following the breathing of God’s spirit into Adam, God commanded the angels to prostrate themselves before Adam, “ and We told the angels , ‘Prostrate to Adam’ and they prostrated” (Quran 7:11). The angels were in effect prostrating before the Divine mystery within Adam, and acknowledging that he was God’s representative – Khalifa in Arabic – a station which even they as sinless beings had not been accorded.

Concept of Fitra

An important concept relating to the concept of human nature from an Islamic perspective is fitra. Fitra refers to the primordial state of man- his natural condition and disposition. The optimistic view of human nature is rooted in this concept. Islam posits that the natural state of man is a positive and ‘good’ state – one in submission to God. This is related to the idea that all souls made a pledge with God before earthly existence, acknowledging Him as their Lord (Quran, 7:172). Even before we were born, or were conceived, our souls met with Allah. The spiritual aspect of every human has therefore already experienced the Divine. The defining experience of man in the Islamic perspective then, is not his physical aspect, but his spiritual aspect. This spiritual aspect of man is what the Quran, along with all spiritual traditions, appeals to. If early childhood experiences are considered to impact strongly on an individual’s life (even if only unconsciously) as suggested by Freud, the impact of such an experience going back to a time even earlier, of course would be fundamental. According to an Islamic point of view this explains the instinct in all individuals for right and wrong, (although in some it may be buried more deeply than others).

Spiritual or religious experience is therefore more a form of recognition than discovery. This is exemplified in the Quran in Chapter 7, verse157:

“He the Prophet enjoins on them that which they themselves sense as right, and forbids them that which they themselves sense as wrong.”

The religious emphasis is thus more on the inner experience than an externally imposed experience……….a part of us already knows the truth. Due to the initial experience of union with God, a part of the individual seeks that union again. This quest is often begun with a search for the meaning of life. According to the Quran, the eternal aspect of each individual, the soul, is on a journey and passes through various stages in life. The end point of this journey though, as was the beginning, is God.

In Quran 6:94 we are told:

“And now you have returned to Us alone, as We created you at first, leaving behind all that we bestowed on you.”

The Quran is the basis of any Islamic perspective. 3.

Journey of Self

It is clear to us when we view our lives from this perspective, our time here on earth is actually only a small part of our ultimate destiny. The Prophet (pbuh) described this life as a mere drop of water as compared to a whole ocean. Yet, most of us focus the majority of our energy and time on things related only to this life – whether it be our education, our jobs, aiming to reach a certain status, having big bank accounts, wearing the right clothes etc… we rarely step back and think where we have come from, and ultimately where we are all going to. For one thing that every single person on this planet shares in common whether they are rich or poor, white or black, from a high or low class, is that each moment brings us all closer to our death. The death we experience, however, is only physical. Within each and every human is a part of them which is beyond this. It is amazing to reflect that all of us contain infinity within us, within our souls. This is the real us. The part that is not destroyed. How we look after this part of us determines our state in this world and in the hereafter. It is a very simple reality but often forgotten. It is up to each of us to focus on and do our utmost to develop this inner, spiritual aspect of ourselves. Just as people recognise the need to do regular exercise to keep our bodies fit and toned we need to exercise our inner senses. Simple physical neglect we know leads to slackness in our body and ultimately disease. In the same way neglect of our inner selves leads to slackness and disease. Inner diseases include things like arrogance, selfishness, greed, impatience etc. …..all these affect our inner hearts, they are like layers of “dirt” which can lead to us becoming blind inside. Sometimes when people become tuned into their inner hearts they say “my eyes opened” and they wish that others could ‘see’ what they could and regret not seeing it sooner. Obviously there was nothing wrong with their eyesight, it was their inner heart which had been blind. In the simple diagram above, lies the distinct approach that Islam has to the aims and objectives of human beings.

Islam has it’s own definition of ‘progress’ – encompassing both spiritual progress of man – affecting his psychological and social state, and material progress – the harnessing of resources and skills development, which is also very much encouraged in Islam. The important thing to remember here is that for the last few centuries the Western definition of ‘progress’ has really only related to material, technical progress. It is only now being acknowledged, even within Western academic and scientific circles that the West has paid a heavy price in social terms for this material success. It has been learning in a slow and painful manner that material progress in itself cannot ensure social progress. It may help alleviate certain problems but not solve them completely. And if not pursued in a cautious and conscious manner, the rise in technology itself can be a source of social problems. As a psychotherapist I have to deal first hand with the many social and psychological problems people experience in England, which is considered among the most developed and ‘progressive’ countries in the world. Social cohesion has been eroded and the family unit has disintegrated. Cases of anxiety and depression have increased at alarming rates. The irony is that I am actually being approached by mainstream psychology services in England to provide ‘spiritual therapy’ even within the National Health Service. This shows the limitations of the standard psychological therapies: they are simply not adequate in dealing with the severe problems society is facing. However, my message is not that we should not progress materially – of course we should – people have a right to good living standards. Only that we see before us the results of a scientific experiment on the part of the West. It would be unwise to not learn from the results of this – otherwise history would simply repeat itself in the developing countries. Let us take the best and beneficial aspects of Western technology, but from the basis of a firm Islamic foundation and perspective. In this way we should avoid repetition of some of the West’s mistakes of material progress at the expense of social progress. There is no reason why we cannot have the best of both.

Concept of Nafs

Of particular interest in the model of the self is the concept of ‘Nafs’ – the Arabic word used in the Qur’an and translated as ‘self’ or ‘soul’. Due to the different possible states of the self, different types of ‘Nafs’ have been described in the Quran. From the Islamic point of view Nafs can be good or evil as it can be pulled toward higher potentials of the self or lower potentials of the self (Quran, 95:14-16). Earthly existence is about choice – which way will we go? Again the idea of the journey of the self is important. We are capable of choosing various paths – some which are consistent with Islamic aim in life – Union with the creator, and others which are not. The point is that the self is always in a dynamic flux – the same person experiences different states within themselves at different times. Three important states of the self mentioned in the Quran include:

Nafs Ammara (the commanding or lower self) Quran 12:53. This self is prone to the lower aspects of the self, representing the negative drives in man. It can be viewed as analogous to the Freudian concept of ‘id’ e.g ‘I want to do it now… I don’t care if it’s right or wrong.’

Nafs Lawwama (The self reproaching self) Quran 75:2 This state corresponds to the self when it becomes aware of wrong- doing and feels remorse. A parallel between the Freudian concept of ‘superego’ and nafs lawwama may be drawn. The feeling of “I shouldn’t have done that” or “why did I do that – I wish I hadn’t…” 3.

Nafs Mutmainnah (The peaceful self) Quran 89:27-28 This is the state of inner peace and happiness, when you feel satisfied and content in yourself. This is the state that we are aiming to achieve. In order to achieve the state of tranquility and peace one has to activate the remorseful self (e.g. through sincere repentance) and control the lower commanding self (through self discipline). 3.

Importance of Balance and Boundaries in Islam

The idea of balancing the different aspects of the self – physical and spiritual – is very important in Islam. One should not go to the extreme of emphasising one aspect of the self at the expense of the other. Exhortation to seek a balance in satisfying both body and soul is found in the Quran: “But seek the abode of the hereafter in that which Allah has given you and neglect not your portion of the world, and be kind even as God has been kind to you and seek not corruption in the Earth…..” (Quran 28:77) We can place Islam’s attitude to physical appetites on a continuum where it lies in between the extremes of suppression and overindulgence:

SUPPRESSION MIDDLE/BALANCE OVERINDULGENCE
“ISLAM”
Figure 4.

Continuum of Attitudes to Physical Instincts

The extremity of suppression is condemned:

“who has forbidden the beautiful and good things which God has bestowed?” (Quran 7:32).

For example, the relationship of attraction between men and women is sanctified, not viewed as a moral compromise, but a blessing, elevated to the rank of the signs of God himself:

“And among his signs is this, that He created for you spouses from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you love and mercy. Verily in that are indeed signs for people who reflect.” (Quran 30:21)

Also “God has created for your enjoyment everything on earth” (Quran 2:29)

In Islam physical aspects of man are not only legitimated, but man is encouraged to enjoy them. In the light of this, the secular, eg Freud’s view of religion as repressive of natural instincts is clearly not universally applicable. The extremity of over indulgence however is also warned against:

“…..eat and drink without excess, for God loves not those given to excess” (Quran 7:31).

In this way boundaries are set up to ensure moderation. Removal of boundaries and unlimited indulgence may appear attractive at first. However they inevitably lead to an imbalance, the result being an unhealthy state as opposed to a healthy and fulfilled one. 5.

Self Development

The notion of balance in Islam has implications for the important area of self development. Western psychology conceptualises self indulgence as removal of moral restrictions on people so that they are not ‘repressed’. According to Freud religious belief is a pathological symptom and sign of arrested development leading to neurosis. In this way the removal or ‘transgression’ of those boundaries limiting free expression of physical drives is encouraged. However no real notion of a ‘healthy’ ideal is suggested. This Freudian approach to mental health of ‘absence of pathology’ is reflected within the tradition of western medicine as a whole. This can be seen to be a rather limiting approach, however. A model at best aimed at ‘absence of disease’ offers no contribution to the important area of self development, as it is unable to define positive mental health. The Islamic model however, would advocate seeking to establish an equilibrium within the physical aspects, so that they are neither denied nor over indulged. The notion of moderation in the Islamic perspective is very much related to concepts of ideal states, balance, adopting the middle way and justice in Islam:

“Thus we have appointed you a middle nation, that you may be witnesses for mankind.” (Quran 2:413).

Indeed, the arabic word ‘Wasata’ in the Quran, translated here as ‘middle’ has been translated in differing English translations as ‘just and best’ (Hilali and Khan) and ‘golden mean’ (Maududi’s commentary translated by Akbar). In this way one word conveys many interrelated concepts. Justice is the consequence of following the middle way, and it is one of the main characteristics of the middle way. Adoption of the ‘middle way’ in the Islamic perspective, is thus both a means and aim of self -development and fulfillment. By taking the middle path we will achieve the ideal state and the ideal state itself is the ‘middle’ or balanced state. In this way, boundaries (determined by God) are not viewed as simply limiting the human self, but as providing parameters within which ultimate inner balance and development can take place. As Muslims we can appreciate the perfection in the balance and limits Allah has placed in creation. If the earth was even slightly closer to the sun, everything would be burnt, and if the earth was even slightly further from the sun, it would be too cold to sustain life. But where Allah has placed it is just right for living things to grow. It is amazing when we discover the beauty, the intricacy and harmony that Allah has placed in the natural system – from cosmology to biology to physics. In the same way the beliefs and practices of Islam provide people with the perfect balance. Islam provides the perfect context for optimum growth and development as it is from Allah who has placed such beauty and order in everything else. He has placed it within us, in our Fitra. When we go beyond the correct limits, we commit an injustice, and ultimately it is an injustice to ourselves – we only betray ourselves in the end:

“O Mankind ! Your rebellion is only against yourselves!…..” (Quran 10:23). But because we have free will we can choose not to live in this perfect balance within ourselves and with the rest of creation.

Summary

The Islamic approach to the self, I have outlined above, can be summarised in two basic points. Striving for self for unification with the Divine, and Striving for self for equilibrium within physical instincts. Both spiritual and physical possibilities are thus optimised.

Figure 5

(Heaven) Spiritual Aim is Dimension UNIFICATION

(Earth) Physical Dimension Aim is EQUILIBRIUM

Conclusion

I cannot stress enough the importance of developing Islamic psychology – because psychological assumptions about the nature of the self and what it means to be human -underlie not only psychological therapies but the approach of governments to social welfare and education. In this way psychological models actually shape the agendas and priorities eg those of important policy makers, thereby influencing whole nations. For example, the national education policy in England for school curricula stipulates that the three core subjects of Maths, English, and Science must be taught. None of these subjects incorporate ideas of self development and inner growth in the pupils. A whole generation of children are therefore being shaped by fragmented education which allows them to be technically skilled but does not allow them to explore their potential as whole people. To conclude, for too long the Islamic contribution to knowledge of the self and its application/ implications for positive mental health development has not been recognised or explored fully. I believe that the science of the self is the foundation of all sciences. As the Prophet (saw) said: “He who knows himself knows Allah”. The word ‘science’ is based on the Greek word meaning ‘knowledge’ or ‘to know’. And the simple truth is that Allah is not only the Ultimate Reality but the source of all knowledge. I think it is time that we woke up to our valuable heritage and carried the baton of Islamic knowledge from the past, forward into the future. In the field of psychology two steps are required for this – theory development and practical application. We need to consciously develop a new field of study – Islamic Psychology – involving theoretical integration of Islamic notions of the self with current western models of psychology. This theoretical framework should be applied in developing a practical “Islamic Counselling” approach with its own distinct processes and techniques. I am confident that such research will benefit not only Muslims but all people – Islam came as a mercy to the whole of mankind. As Muslim scientists and practitioners we need to be pro-active, not reactive. We must sow the seeds now for a firm foundation and InshaAllah they will flourish, even if not in our own lifetime but in future generations.
