UMN Fatwa: Can Jews and Christians use the Name of Allah?
Yes, Yahood (jews) and Nasara (Christians) can use the Name of Allah,
Allah is the Name of the Almighty as mentioned in both the Torah (given to Musa Alaihi Salaam) and Injeel (Gospels given to Isa Alaihi Salaam, ibn Maryam)
As long as Yahood (Jews) and Nasara (Christians) keep to the law that Allah is Only One as stated in the Shahada (Shema Yiisrael) and that they associate no partners with Him as commanded in the eternal covenant of Allah in the Torah, Gospels (Injeel/Bible) and Al Quran.
Christians should not use the Name of Allah to refer to Isa ibn Maryam (Jesus) nor can they use the Name of Allah to refer to the Holy Spirit.
All Semitic speaking people confirms this that Allah (Aramaic: Allaha) is Only One, this is to be imposed and by right blasphemy should not be allowed as the Almighty is free from having any partners; His being is far above that which He created.
The Original Aramaic Torah and Gosples mentions the Name of Allah, it commands the Children of Israel to be Muslim (Mushlam) which means that they become people who are perfect and complete in Total Submission to the will of Allah (i.e. Al Islaam)
In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful
Al Quran confirms this:
Surah 112. Al-Ikhlas
1. Say: He is Allah, the One! 2. Allah, the eternally Besought of all! 3. He begetteth not nor was begotten. 4. And there is none comparable unto Him.
Surah 3. Al-Imran
“1. Alif. Lam. Mim. 2. Allah! There is no Illah (Deity) but Him, the Alive, the Eternal. 3. He hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, even as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel 4. Aforetime, for a guidance to mankind; and hath revealed the Criterion (of right and wrong). Lo! those who disbelieve the revelations of Allah, theirs will be a heavy doom. Allah is Mighty, Able to Requite (the wrong).”
“64. Say: O People of the Scripture. Come to an agreement between us and you: that we shall worship none but Allah, and that we shall ascribe no partners unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside Allah. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered unto Him [i.e. are Muslims].”
Surah 5. Al-Maidah
44. Lo! We did reveal the Torah, wherein is guidance and a light, by which the Prophets who surrendered (unto Allah) judged the Jews, and the rabbis and the priests (judged) by such of Allah’s Scripture as they were bidden to observe, and thereunto were they witnesses. So fear not mankind, but fear Me. And barter not My revelations for a little gain. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed: such are disbelievers. 45. And We prescribed for them therein: The life for the life, and the eye for the eye, and the nose for the nose, and the ear for the ear, and the tooth for the tooth, and for wounds retaliation. But whoso forgoeth it (in the way of charity) it shall be expiation for him. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed: such are wrong doers. 46. And We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow in their footsteps, confirming that which was (revealed) before him, and We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming that which was (revealed) before it in the Torah a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil). 47. Let the People of the Gospel judge by that which Allah hath revealed therein. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed; such are evil livers. 48. And unto thee have We revealed the Scripture with the truth, confirming whatever Scripture was before it, and a watcher over it. So judge between them by that which Allah hath revealed, and follow not their desires away from the truth which hath come unto thee. For each We have appointed a divine law and a traced out way. Had Allah willed He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which He hath given you (He hath made you as ye are). So vie one with another in good works. Unto Allah ye will all return, and He will then inform you of that wherein ye differ. 49. So judge between them by that which Allah hath revealed, and follow not their desires, but beware of them lest they seduce thee from some part of that which Allah hath revealed unto thee. And if they turn away, then know that Allah’s will is to smite them for some sin of theirs. Lo! many of mankind are evil livers. 50. Is it a judgment of the time of (pagan) ignorance that they are seeking? Who is better than Allah for judgment to a people who have certainty (in their belief)?
Surah 4. An-Nisaa
171. O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, (Isa ibn Maryam) Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not “Three”. Cease! (it is) better for you! Allah is only One Deity. Far is it removed from His transcendent majesty that he should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender. 172. The Messiah will never scorn to be a slave unto Allah, nor will the favoured angels.
